Chris Rado Breaks Track Record
Chris Rado came into Nashville like a locomotive, coming off of two consecutive wins in the weeks before. Rado got to Nashville a little early to take part in the HIN Nightshift event the night before and let everyone catch a glimpse of the car that would be tearing up the track the next day. The NOS Energy Drink tC was right in the middle of NOS display at HIN and had a crowd touching all its carbon fiber bits all night. When it came time to race, Chris was ready to keep his streak going and got strapped in with the intentions of taking it all by the end. The Nashville track is a little more rough on the car and driver with the high speed turns and violent transitions between midfield and the oval but as always Chris was up for the challenge. On Saturday morning the NOS Energy Drink tC took the track and came back into the pits with the fastest time of the day by almost half a second! The crew got to work on the car to make the handling a little more aggressive and when Chris went back out he smoked all his FWD class competitors and was off the Top Speed AWD Subaru WRX’s time by 1.1 seconds, a difference Chris knew he could take up. When it came time to race Chris put his tC into second gear and the tranny locked up, heading it straight back to the pits for repair. It was bad news as the tC needed a new transmission to continue. A normal repair like this would take 5 hours but the NOS Energy Drink Team brought their A game and got everything swapped out in record time and got Rado back on the track to take on the pesky WRX. Chris put the pedal to the metal and pulled off a 1.05.5, which was just a tenth of a second behind the track record for a production body vehicle. By achieving this Chris was awarded 1st place in the Unlimited FWD Class and placed 2nd overall in the event, just a fraction off the AWD Subaru. And to put the icing on the cake, Chris and the WORLD Racing Scion tC now hold the new track record for the fastest FWD lap time at Nashville Motor Speedway. What a weekend!
